to the point where we have water again* and we will need to minimize water
use until it fully fills.

The fire cistern level sensor has been having issues. Unfortunately it was
over-filling the cistern today. When it overfills it dumps into our
stormwater system. Which is why the swale had water in it.

The fire cistern fills from our freshwater tank. Our fresh water tank is
depleted. It will take a few hours to refill to the point where the booster
pumps will turn back on and restore water pressure to our system.

The water ran out while I was in the shower a few minutes ago -- I barely had a trickle to rinse off. 

Both sink and tub faucet pressures seem OK now for Quinn to take his turn, but I don't know whether to advise him to shower or not.

Yesterday and this morning, the water presdure has been very low (a trickle
to start) then speeds up. If left on (like as in a 10 min shower) the cycle
repeats twice.

Just thought I'd let you know in case its a precursor to something.

Reminder:
*If anyone is *currently* experiencing low or no water pressure, please
immediately contact the water list, cc'd.*


Other notes:

We had the cistern filling *very* briefly today for a few minutes between
2:30-3pm. We checked the fresh water level before and after just to be sure
we didn't affect anything. There was no significant change to the level.
There was an active alarm at the Mosaic Common House Shortly before that
which is why we deployed to the pump house to make sure the fire cistern
level was still good for next time, in case this alarm had caused
sprinklers to go off. None of that should have any effect on individuals'
water pressure at home.

Otherwise, if folks having ongoing milder issues would like their
observations to be useful for general troubleshooting, please include date
and time of the observed behavior, especially when it's:

- More than 24 hours after a known sitewide water issue
- That faucet has been opened more than a few times since the most recent
known water issue and you thought it had cleared by now
- You're not aware of any known water issue, but the sputter self-resolved
before you had time to finish the thought "maybe I should call Adam"

Again, if anyone is *currently* experiencing low or no water pressure,
please *immediately contact the water list, cc'd*. You can also copy all of
Camelot, or individuals, but the important thing is to notify the water
list, as they need to know immediately when there?s a potentially new
problem with the water outside of what?s already been reported, such as the
outage this past weekend.

Yochai, TL;DR for this whole thread is:

Camelot and Mosaic's (Sawyer Hill EcoVillage as a whole) water system is
award-winning (seriously, but I forget which year) but it is currently
haunted, and a combination of manual intervention and/or water/fire service
vendor calls is happening if not daily, at least weekly.

Welcome to Camelot! (I promise this is temporary, for some value of
"temporary"...or at the very least, it is not the expected behavior of the
system and we are employing paid and volunteer water-ghost exorcists to try
to return the water to normal, award-winning status)

Adam had a detailed write up on this when it started acting up again. I'm
attaching it here.

The short of it is that the booster pumps are taking ~30 seconds to spin up
when needed and, under heavy load, that's allowing the system pressure to
drop.  The long term solution likely involves the plc programming to be
updated, but finding a programmer isn't trivial.

As requested to notify the list, I just had a shower and found there was

Hi folks,
Water slowed down after I got in the shower, at first to a trickle and then
stopped so I stepped out of the shower to check the time - 6:06am.  It
picked back up perhaps 30sec after that and came back up to more normal
levels.

It's running clear now so we are cooking with it, but I?m not sure if you
guys need to send out any kind of announcement to the neighborhoods about
letting the water run for a given period of time? Do we have an SOP for
this?

please advise, and also text me if you want me to go check on the booster
pumps or tank levels or any of that stuff. I?m on site.

We've been at Camelot for 2 weeks now and I have yet to take a shower where
I haven't lost water pressure. This morning, around 8:30am, I lost water
pressure TWICE in the course of one shower. Both pressure drops were
significant enough to affect my water heater, turning my shower cold. Brr...

This morning I turned on the shower at 8:04am. By 8:09 I had lost pressure
to about a trickle. It came back about a minute later. I then lost hot
water for about a minute. Then at 8:15 the pressure dropped to a trickle
again! I gave up and got out of the shower.

Why would the pressure drop a second time if the lag pump has started up?
Wouldn't it continue running for more than a few minutes?

Hi all,

I am experiencing low, but not super low, water pressure in #61. It is low
enough that I don't want to run my dishwasher or take a shower, but I can
get some water for drinking or cooking.
